Abandonment, rejection, refusal to communicate are all forms of abuse.
“Missed, Taken”
My friend and filmaker Brandon Freeman produced this short film (10:00) it also stars my other friend John Ravewnholtz. It recently was featured in the Idaho International Film Festival.
How long to form a habit?
Although the average was 66 days, there was marked variation in how long habits took to form, anywhere from 18 days up to 254 days in the habits examined in this study. As you’d imagine, drinking a daily glass of water became automatic very quickly but doing 50 sit-ups before breakfast required more dedication (above, dotted lines). The researchers also noted that:
via Psyblog
- Missing a single day did not reduce the chance of forming a habit.
- A sub-group took much longer than the others to form their habits, perhaps suggesting some people are ‘habit-resistant’.
- Other types of habits may well take much longer.

Three Dog Night - “Joy To The World”
This Relational “Bill Of Rights” or ”Declaration of Interdependence” changed my life for the better.
I have the right to:
• Feel respected as a person.
• To be appreciated and not taken for granted.
• Effective communication with others.
• To have my privacy respected and to have boundaries.
• To not be one upped or one downed.
• Feel good about myself and my relationships.
• To expect trust validation and support from those who are my friends.
• To grow within and outside of relationships.
• To my own separate opinions, thoughts, feelings, and choices.
• To choose to stay or leave any relationship.
This is a particularly painful study of addiction and love from the series “Intervention” this episode features legendary Three Dog Night singer Chuck Negron and his son’s battle with heroine and his mom’s struggle with enablement. There are some really important messages of love and reality offered here. Pretty hard to keep a dry eye. Kudos to the Negron family for being open and sharing their story.
